COP3 - Icons

I had to make some iconography for the app, for simple gestures like arrows and menu icons, as well as the set for the genre page.

Action

I decided to do a clapperboard for action. At first I tried adding a couple of lines on it.

But felt it didn't need it, and to keep it simple.

I added rounded corners to make it more friendly like the logo is. I also have rounded edges on the other iconography.

Comedy

At first I thought about doing a funny face, but felt the Charlie Chaplin face was more iconic.

Romance

I decided to do a heart as most people would associate this with romance.

Fantasy

This could be many things, but I feel a wand represents magic, surrealism and anything could happen.

 Horror

This was a tricky one because I didn't want to do an icon of weapon or something that could be offensive.

I tried to do a ghost at first but it wasn't really working and I didn't want it to feel too cartoony.

 So I went with a coffin

Musical

I did a music note for this, it seems the most obvious choice.

I had a curved line to make it more fitting with the other icons.

Sci Fi

I thought it would be fun to do a UFO for this, as people most associate science fiction with this.

History

I had a few ideas for history, including a stopwatch, column, books, castle, egg timer etc.

I tried a stopwatch at first but I didn't feel it represented it well enough.

So I started to do a castle.

Here is the castle I made for it.

Drama

I made the drama theatre faces for this.

I feel the shape of the head is too much like a plectrum here

I changed the shape which I think is better

Arrow/Cross

I needed some icons for the app nav, so I made some simple rounded shapes.
